Rishon beats 13 others to win Miss Perak Tourism crown

The only child in the family, Rishon Shun, 21, of Indian and Chinese parentage, aspires to be a model in the future.
Standing at 174cm tall, she sashayed down the runway to loud cheers from the audience.
Rishon, a second year English student at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman in Kampar, Perak, also won the Miss Popularity, Miss Glamorous and Miss Elegant subsidiary titles.
She said she entered the contest as a challenge to see how far she could go.
"My motto is to keep going and never look back. I never expected to win," Rishon said after the crowning ceremony.
"I am going to open a new blog to promote the many beautiful and interesting tourist spots in Perak to the world," she added.
She walked away with RM6,000, a crown, sash, trophy, a RM20,000 pearl necklace with precious topaz, a holiday package to Korea for two and other beauty and health products.
First runner-up was customer service executive Davina Naidu, 20, who won RM4,000, a crown, sash, trophy and beauty and health products while Nicole Tan Pi Yao, a 25-year-old mass communication student was the second runner-up and won RM2,000, a crown, sash, trophy, and beauty and health products.
Nicole also won the Miss Loving Heart subsidiary title.
Other subsidiary title winners were Beatrice Ng who was named Social Media Queen, Miss Charming and Miss Friendship; Elaine Chong (Miss Lifestyle and Miss Personality); Elaine Yeoh (Miss Trendy and Best in Talent); Caryn Chooi (Miss Photogenic); Cindy Poon (Miss Radiance) and Fifi Leong (Miss Charity Queen). They all took home RM500 for each subsidiary title.
The contest started with the finalists parading in traditional dresses, followed by designer clothes and evening gowns.

The top two winners will represent the state to the Miss Malaysia Tourism in Kuala Lumpur in September.
The winner of the national level contest will then represent Malaysia to the Miss Tourism International 2015 World Final in Vietnam in November, where contestants from more than 65 countries around the world are expected to participate.
"Our aim for the contest is to choose an ambassador to promote Perak tourism." said organising chairperson Anita Phang, who herself was Miss Malaysia Chinatown 1994.
Guest-of-honour Perak state executive councillor for Tourism, Health and Culture, Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi, crowned the winner. – May 18, 2015.
