Wear black on Tuesday, Bersih tells Malaysians

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians have been urged to wear black on Tuesday to protest against the string of arrests over the anti-GST rally in Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu.
The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih 2.0) and the anti-GST movement launched "Ops Hitam 505" ("Operation Black 505") as a sign of solidarity with the victims of police’s "witch-hunt" in wake of the anti-GST arrests on Saturday.
In a statement on Monday, Bersih 2.0 manager Mandeep Singh said the coalition appealed to all Malaysians to wear black, or to put on black ribbons, or adorn their vehicles with black cloth, as a sign of rejection of Najib's "minority government" on the anniversary of his second year in office since the 2013 general election.

He said “Ops Hitam 505” is also representing three demands of the people.
Mandeep said they are: "Repeal of GST; elimination of all frauds and manipulation especially malapportionment and gerrymandering in constituency redelineation in Sabah, Sarawak, and the peninsula so that there will be no more minority governments; as well as the establishment of the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) to end abuse and politicising of police power."
Mandeep hoped that Malaysians would also show a “sea of black” in every corner of Malaysia, especially in Permatang Pauh and Rompin, where by-elections were slated to take place.
"The voters can make their stand through the ballot papers to reject GST, dirty elections and police state," he added.
