JOHOR BARU: A man believed to be a taxi driver was found dead in his car with cuts on his wrists and stab wounds on his abdomen in Kahang, Kluang.
Police nabbed a 35-year-old man in connection with the alleged murder of the 60-year-old man at around 4pm on Monday, about five hours after passers-by found the body.
Johor police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said that at around noon on that day they received information about a blood-stained taxi that was abandoned by the roadside.
Passers-by reported that the body of a man, believed to be the taxi driver, was in the car.
SDCP Mohd Mokhtar said the suspect, believed to be a former drug addict, was arrested at a house in Kampung Sri Cahaya following a tip-off.
“After the arrest, the suspect brought police to the crime scene where the incident was believed to have taken place,” SDCP Mohd Mokhtar told a press conference at the state police headquarters here.
He said initial investigations showed there were cuts on the victim’s wrists and stab wounds on his abdomen, adding that the suspect had been remanded for questioning under Section 302 of the Penal Code. The section provides for the death penalty upon conviction.
