Cop fighting for his life after being knocked by car during pursuit

PETALING JAYA: A traffic police officer is fighting for his life at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) after he was hit by a car while chasing a suspect on the Federal Highway.
Lance-corporal Mohd Malid Jifri Mat was on duty at a road block along Jalan Universiti at around 1pm Sunday when a grey-coloured Naza Citra tried to avoid the road block.
When he approached the car, the driver stepped on the gas pedal and ran the roadblock.
"L/Cpl Mohd Malid gave chase on his motorcycle from Jalan Universiti into the Federal Highway but was unfortunately knocked by a passing White-coloured MyVi, which also fled the scene.
"He is in a coma and in critical condition, and is undergoing surgery at UMMC," Petaling Jaya OCPD ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said.
He added that police were on the lookout for the suspects driving the two cars.
