16 nabbed in raid on Rawang massage parlours

PETALING JAYA: A night raid at three massage parlours in Rawang resulted in the capture of 16 illegal Thai female workers.
The raid, codenamed Ops Noda was carried out at Taman Bayu Permai and Rawang’s city centre from 9.40pm on Tuesday to midnight. 
Selangor anti-vice, gaming and secret societies division (D7) chief Deputy Supt Rohan Shah Ahmad said that the operation was led by four officers and comprised of fourteen personnel from the D7 unit and the state Cantas Khas team. 
Items seized during the raid 
“The workers, aged between 21 and 60 were arrested for not possessing valid work permits.
“We also arrested three caretakers, aged between 50 and 64, for involvement in vice activities,” said DSP Rohan. 
He added that one of the massage parlours was also unlicensed. 
Among the items seized in the raid were massage equipment and four condoms. 
The arrestees were brought to the Gombak district station to assist in investigations. 
“The owners of the massage parlours are being investigated under Section 55B of the Immigration Act for hiring illegal workers and Section 373 of the Penal Code for the suppression of brothels,” said DSP Rohan.
Meanwhile, the female detainees are investigated under Section 39B of the Immigration Act 1963 for working without valid documents and Section 372B of the Penal Code for soliciting for the purposes of offering services as a prostitute.
