Enhanced security at electronic dance music event
PETALING JAYA: One of the most anticipated parties of the year, Heineken Thirst, to be held at the Sepang International Circuit tonight, will have enhanced security features for the safety of its expected 20,000 patrons.
In a bid to create a more controlled environment, the organiser, Future Sound Asia, has designated drinking zones for alcohol consumption. Patrons will not be allowed to bring alcoholic drinks out of the zones.
“Drugs are prohibited at the venue and all attendees will be subjected to a security search for illegal substances and items, including drugs, weapons, focus light devices and glow sticks.
“Enforcement officers and event security personnel will also be present,” said company director Ben Law.
Party-goers are expected to throng the electronic dance music event headlined by one of the world’s most sought-after deejays, David Guetta.
The party will also feature other big names like Dirty Dutch house maestro Afrojack and award-winning former songwriters for hire – Australian twin sisters Nervo, along with Britain’s rave and grime specialist rapper Example, and French wunderkid and nu-disco specialist Madeon.
Law also said signs urging responsible drinking will be placed at various places at the venue, and 10,000 free bottles of water will also be given to the patrons as they leave the event.
“We also have medical staff at first aid stations,” he added.
