Group of friends remanded over failed kidnap attempt
PETALING JAYA: A group of friends are under police remand after a failed kidnap attempt at Genting Highlands.
A witness lodged a police report at around 6.45am yesterday after spotting two of the suspects, a man and a woman, driving in an allegedly stolen Honda City at the First World Hotel in Genting Highlands.
When approached by police, the couple sped away in the vehicle and a car chase ensued.
Upon investigation, police found a man and a woman inside the Honda City car," he told reporters here, yesterday.
Wan Azharudin said not long after, the Proton Perdana car came by and stopped, claiming the driver and the passenger inside the Honda City car were their colleagues.
Police spotted two men and a woman inside the Proton Perdana car behaving in a suspicious manner, forcing police to detain all four suspects for investigations at the Goh Tong Jaya police station.
"When carrying out inspection on the Proton Perdana, police were shocked to find a man inside the boot of the car. The man who was found inside the boot of the car claimed that he was robbed and his car hijacked while the woman who was inside the Proton Perdana car was actually his girlfriend.
"The couple claimed that they were robbed at the car park of a hotel in a holiday resort," he said.
Following the revelation, police detained all four suspects for further investigations.
