KUALA LUMPUR: If you want to catch the amazing sight of the Petronas Twin Towers awash in pink, go see them tonight.
For the first time, the country’s most iconic buildings are being illuminated in the signature pink of Estee Lauder Companies’ annual global breast cancer awareness campaign.
Organised by Estee Lauder Malaysia, it is one of many events aimed at educating women about the importance of early detection and treatment, and raise funds for cancer research.
In keeping with the campaign’s theme of “Let’s Defeat Breast Cancer, We’re Stronger Together”, Estee Lauder Malaysia is collaborating with the Petronas Group of Companies for the first time with the support of the latter’s women’s arm, Petronita.
Estee Lauder Malaysia managing director Paul Slavin said the illumination of the twin towers demonstrated the strength of three well-known companies – Petronas, Suria KLCC and Estee Lauder – coming together for a good cause.
“We have been supporting research in breast cancer since 2000,” said Petronas treasury vice-president Nuraini Ismail.
The towers were lit up last night and will be lit in pink again from 7pm till midnight today only.
However, the KLCC Lake Symphony Fountain will be illuminated in pink until the end of the month.
The campaign has illuminated famous buildings and landmarks in pink around the world, including the Sydney Opera House, the Tower of London and the Empire State Building in New York.
