Policeman Shoots Debt Collector (Ex EO Detainee) in A Club

GEORGE TOWN (Oct 14, 2013): Two policemen – a corporal and a lance corporal – were among three people arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a debt collector in Juru early this morning.
In the 2.20am incident, debt collector Kang Seak Xiong, 38, (pix) from Nibong Tebal had an argument with the lance corporal in his 30s at an entertainment outlet in Juru Auto-City.
Both men were drinking at separate tables at the time.
An argument ensued between the two men before the suspect was attacked by the victim and several men.
The suspect then fired a shot that hit the victim’s abdomen before fleeing with the corporal from the Johor state police contingent.
State police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said the victim was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment but died from the gun shot wounds at 3.40am.
“A 34-year old woman, a fitness centre worker said to be a close friend of the suspect, was arrested at the scene. Based on a tip-off, the two policemen were nabbed at a house in Kulim, Kedah at 10am today,” Abdul Rahim said during a press conference at the state police headquarters, here, today.
“We have the CCTV recording of the suspect entering the outlet and of how the argument began,” he said, adding that police seized a semi-automatic pistol from the lance corporal and found a 9mm bullet casing at the scene.
Abdul Rahim said the victim has a prior record under the Emergency Ordinance (EO) 1969 but was not a gang member.
“We are waiting for the blood test from both the victim and the detained to determine if they were intoxicated during the time of the incident,” he added.
