SANDAKAN: Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin who retained his Umno Kinabatangan division chief post made a surprising announcement that he would relinquish the post, less than an hour after he was announced as the winner.
The Kinabatangan Member of Parliament was earlier declared of winner in the one-on-one fight against Sukau assemblyman Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman at around 1pm at Hakka Hall here, today.
However, Bung announced his wish to resign from the division chief post as he was disappointed with the attitude of certain party members in the division which he described as being in 'cliques'.
He also did not state the official date he would present a proper resignation letter.
At the national level, Bung had retained his Supreme Council Member post.
