UMNO ELECTION 2013: Tie for Jamawi and Khairul, Zahida wins Puteri vice chief
KUALA LUMPUR: The race for Umno Youth vice chief is still tied between the leading contenders Jamawi Jaafar and Khairul Azwan Harun, said Umno Election Committee chairman Tan Sri Tajol Rosli Ghazali tonight.
He said both contenders received 73 votes each.
He said a decision will be made based on the number of popular votes garnered by the duo from only 190 out of 191 divisions
Votes casted at Pensiangan division will not be included in the count for popular votes due to technical difficulties that happened during balloting in that particular division.
For the Wanita race, he said incumbent Wanita chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abd Jalil garnered 172 while vice chief Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun secured 127 votes.
The deputy Permanent Chairman post in Wanita Umno was won by Saripah Aminahbi Syed Mohd while the permanent chairman post was won uncontested by party veteran Datuk Napsiah Omar.
For the Puteri Umno, Tajol announced that Puteri chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and vice chief Zahida Zarik Khan of the movement were affirmed as winners.
He said Azlieza Azizan is the wing's permanent chairman, while the deputy Permanent Chairman was won by Nurul Huda Nordin Ahmad.
With the results from Gelang Patah and Pensiangan divisions yet to be tabulated, he said the full results would only be released after Hari Raya Aidiladha.
Meanwhile, Tajol also announced the winners for other posts in the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings at a Press conference held at the party headquarters in Putra World Trade Centre tonight.
