KUALA LUMPUR: Noreen Noor, 54, the beautiful singer-actress behind the hit Siang Terbayang Malam Merindu, has passed away at Hospital Ampang Puteri due to kidney failure and a heart attack.
Noreen was hospitalised last Monday and was in the Intensive Care Unit before she succumbed to her illness yesterday morning.
Friends and family members fondly remember her as a person with an endearing personality.

“She was very sweet, hardworking and had a beautiful heart,” said singer Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim or Khaty, who is Noreen’s second cousin from her mother’s side.
Khaty was shocked by Noreen’s sudden demise.
“At the end of her life, there was much disappointment and I told her to come out of it.
“We texted each other quite often but she kept her illness to herself,” said the 53-year-old singer who has just launched her second restaurant, Khadijah’s Kitchen, in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
“She was a charming, warm, friendly and beautiful person right till the end. She was very secretive and would not bother about any adverse publicity about her. The media loved her because she was very easy-going with no airs,” said Ziela Jalil, the multiple award-winning producer of Pena Creative Pictures Sdn Bhd and one of her peers.
According to Ziela, Noreen was also a very sensitive person.
“I knew she was really down after her brother and parents passed away. That sad episode left her so depressed and for a while, she kept to herself. It was only a few years ago that she snapped out of it,” said Ziela.
