UNDER-AGED TEEN CHARGED WITH MURDER OF FELLOW NS TRAINEE

A 17-year-old National Service trainee has been charged with murdering his fellow trainee at the Pinggiran Pelangi camp.
Five others were also charged with causing hurt to the deceased Muhammad Suhaimi Norhamidi, 18.




According to the charge sheet, the underaged murder accused killed Muhammad Suhaimi at the camp's L1C and L2C dormitories between 1.30pm and 10.30pm on Sept 22.

No plea was recorded in the closed proceeding at the Pekan magistrate's court.

Magistrate Mohamed Ruhizat Abdullah fixed Dec 11 for mention.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Syafiq Izzat Roslan, 18, and Mohd Nazeri Mustafa, 21, both claimed trial to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt to the deceased at the camp's L2C dormitory at about 10.30pm on Sept 22.

Mohamed Ruhizat set bail at RM3,000 each and fixed Nov 13 for mention and Dec 11 and 12 for trial for the two.

In a similar charge, Mohd Firhan Hafizi Ismail, 23, and two 17-year-olds were accused of voluntarily causing hurt to Muhammad Suhaimi at the camp's L1C dormitory at about 1.30pm on Sept 22.

Bail for the three was set at RM3,000 each and they are to go on trial on Dec 18 and 19.

The murder charge carries the mandatory death sentence while causing hurt provides for imprisonment up to one year or a fine up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Syamsul Kahar Ahmad Nadri appeared for the prosecution while Osman Abdullah and Noor Adilah Zarian represented the five charged with causing hurt.

The murder accused was represented by Mohd Farid Abd Aziz.
