PH Officially Wins DUN Simpang Jeram and Pulai Parliament Seats

Pakatan Harapan (PH) maintains control of the two seats  in Johor, namely the Pulai Parliament and the Simpang Jeram DUN, despite the rather low voting percentage today.

PH candidate in the Pulai Parliament, Suhaizan Kayat won with a majority of 18,641,

Suhaizan, who is also the former Speaker of DUN Johor, won 48,283 votes, beating Zulkifli Jaafar from Perikatan Nasional (PN) with 29,642 votes, while Samsudin Mohamad Fauzi, got 528 votes

The victory of Suhaizan, who is also Vice Chairman of Parti Amanah Negara (AMANAH) Johor, made personal history for himself after losing six times in the elections he had competed in previously.

In Simpang Jeram, Deputy Chairperson of AMANAH for the Bakri Region, Nazri Abdul Rahman, who represented PH, won with a comfortable majority of 3.514

Based on the official results Nazri received 13,844 votes, followed by PN candidate, Dr Mohd Mazri Yahya (10,330 votes) and Independent candidate, S Jeghanaathan (311 votes).

The two PRKs were carried out following the death of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub on July 23.

In PRU-15 last November, Salahuddin won the Pulai Parliamentary seat with 64,900 votes, beating Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed from Barisan Nasional (BN) who won 31,726, while Loh Kah Yong from PN won 20,677.

Also at Simpang Jeram, Salahuddin beat PN's Zaril Salleh with 6,360 votes; Datuk Lokman Md Don from BN (6,062 votes) and Mahaizal Mahmor from PEJUANG (208 votes).

According to SPR, the turnout as of 5pm i.e. an hour before the voting center closed showed 45 percent out for the Pulai Parliament, while 59 percent in Simpang Jeram.

The Chairman of the SPR, Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh, during a visit to the Taman Bukit Indah National Secondary School (SMK) drawing center, announced that the number of voters carrying out their responsibilities at the Pulai Parliament was rather low due to unfavorable weather conditions.
