PETALING JAYA: A former national football player who once rocked the country's sports world around 2000 was arrested by the police for allegedly breaking into the hotel room of a woman with the status of a wife, before acting aggressively until a commotion broke out.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said that the police received a report at about 2.10am, last Thursday from a local woman who informed that her hotel room was broken into by suspects at about 6.10pm, Wednesday.
He said that the suspect's 'presence' at the scene caused a misunderstanding which caused the woman to seek help from the hotel staff before leaving the place.
"Acting on the report, the police arrested the suspect in Jalan Penchala, Petaling Jaya on Friday. We gave police bail on the same day," he said in a statement here, on Saturday.
Fakhrudin told that the case was investigated according to Section 448 of the Penal Code for trespassing.
Previously, a message shared by a man believed to be the victim's husband, who informed the suspect was a former national player and now with Perak FC, went viral.
"There is no forgiving you 'Ex Malaysia and Perak', when I am determined to proceed to court, you sit in temporary lock-up detention.
"You are very well known on television and on the field," he explained.
However, the message did not specifically mention the intended individual.

A few days ago, a former national football player was accused in the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court of causing injury to his girlfriend at a hotel.
