SHAH ALAM, Oct 12 -- The Selangor government will submit recommendations to the National Security Council (MKN) on the enforcement of the Conditional Movement Control Order (MCO) for 14 days throughout the state effective this Wednesday.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said this was following the state-level MKN meeting today, which revealed that only the areas of Klang, Gombak, Hulu Langat and parts of Petaling had alarming number of COVID-19 cases.
He said the meeting held with the Selangor Health Department, Royal Malaysia Police, Malaysian Armed Forces and other agencies was on the announcement to implement the CMCO in the Petaling district following a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases.
“The announcement of CMCO in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya by Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today came as a shock to the state government.
“The Selangor government is of the view that several areas categorised as green and yellow zones such as Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor remain under control at the moment.
“So, we (state government) will send our counter-proposals to MKN immediately for the matter to be reconsidered,” he said in a statement here today.
Amirudin said the state government greatly appreciated effective and comprehensive communication involving all parties so that such a decision made would not create uncertainties which would impact the frontliners, public and small and medium enterprises.
