KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 -- A total of 129 people were arrested for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) yesterday, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Of this number, 20 were remanded and 109 issued with compound notices, for being involved in public activities which made physical distancing difficult, he said today.
“Police conducted 66 roadblocks and inspected 25,368 vehicles to check the entry of illegal immigrants,” he said in a statement on the RMCO, which entered its 67th day today.
On mandatory COVID-19 quarantine, he said 11,236 individuals who returned to the country between July 24 and yesterday have been placed at 60 hotels and five public training institutes (ILA).
“Of this number, 44 individuals were sent to hospital for treatment and 2,992 have been discharged.
