KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here today received a shock when the court interpreter reading the charges against Rosmah Mansor mistakenly said that the former prime minister’s wife had pleaded guilty to one of them.

According to Bernama, this occurred as the interpreter was reading the 14th charge against Rosmah, who faces 17 counts of money laundering and failing to declare her income involving more than RM7 million to the Inland Revenue Board.

The interpreter was however quick to realise the mistake and informed the court that Rosmah was claiming trial.

The case, which was transferred from the Sessions Court, came up for mention for the first time today before High Court judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan.

Rosmah, 67, maintained her plea of not guilty to all 17 charges.

Her husband, former prime minister Najib Razak, also faces charges related to money laundering, criminal breach of trust, corruption and abuse of power over government and 1MDB-related funds.
