IPOH, Jan 22 — Two men wearing electronic monitoring devices (EMD) marking criminal offenders have been arrested for allegedly robbing a convenience store here yesterday.

“The suspects had gone into the store and one of them flashed a knife to the owner and worker before robbing them.

“However, the store owner managed to catch one of the suspects and reported the incident to the police,” district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Ali Tamby said in a WhatsApp text today.

He added that the two suspects aged 32 and 22 were caught at a shoplot in Jalan Silibin, Taman Alkaf around 8pm, just hours after purportedly committing the robbery and with the EMDs still strapped around their legs.

Police seized RM266 in cash, one pouch bag, a Gatsby hair wax, two Rexona deodorants and a packet of kuaci (sunflower seed) from the suspects.

The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for punishment for gang robbery.
