KUALA LUMPUR: Social media users have been urged to stop circulating the video of a man fondling and kissing a child.

They should instead report the matter to the police.

In a Facebook post social activist Syed Azmi Alhabshi said “please stop spreading the video in Kedah of this man... (and the) girl that has been spreading since yesterday night.

“I have been trying to get the exact location for proper reporting and I have tried to ask everyone that shared (the video) to make a report. It doesn't matter which nationality, just protect the child,” he said.

In the video, a man was seen holding the child on his lap and kissing her with loud music playing in the background. His right hand was seen underneath her pink dress.

The child's face was not censored in the video.

The video was first uploaded by Durian Media on Facebook. It claimed the incident took place at a funfair in Taman Ria in Sungai Petani, Kedah at 11.30pm on Saturday.

Noor Idayu Azmi asked in the thread: “Hello Durian Media didn’t you guys lodge a police report?"

Firdaavincci Azmi also called on the admin to cease circulating the video or censor the child’s face if it was meant to raise awareness.

Meanwhile Federal police corporate communications chief Datuk Asmawati Ahmad said there has been no police report on the incident so far.

“We are however attempting to trace the man in the video,” she said. © New Straits Times
