LANGKAWI: Two civil servants with a penchant for Harley Davidson have been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here on suspicion of soliciting two Harley Davidson t-shirts in exchange for speeding up a land application process.

In a statement on Thursday, the state MACC said the men, in their early 30s, were detained at about 2.28pm on Wednesday at a restaurant here.

The MACC said the men are being probed for soliciting and accepting two Harley Davidson t-shirts worth RM456 from a self-employed man to speed up his land application process.

On Thursday, the Langkawi magistrate’s court granted the MACC a six-day remand order against the 30-year-old assistant legal advisor and 31-year-old clerk.

The case has been classified under Section 17 of the MACC Act 2009 which carries a maximum 20-year jail sentence and fine of not less than five times the bribe amount, or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
