SEREMBAN: Seremban police foiled attempts by two men who were in the midst of transporting stolen buffaloes in their multi purpose vehicle (MPV).

In the 5.20am incident today, a patrol car spotted the MPV at KM263 of the North South Highway and ordered the vehicle to stop as the occupants were behaving suspiciously.

Seremban district deputy police chief Superintendent Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said the MPV then exited the highway and the MPV came to a halt at Jalan Rasah.

"The two men inside however made a quick get away from the vehicle and bolted disappearing among the bushes at the side of the road abandoning the MPV.

"While inspecting the MPV, we found two buffaloes in the pasenger seat dazed and confused believed to be heavily drugged with tranquiliser."

He added the MPV was fitted with false registration numbers and was impounded to the state contingent police headquarters while the two buffaloes were handed over to the Veterinary Services Department for upkeep while waiting for case investigation to be fully completed.

Police is intensifying efforts to track down the two suspects who are still at large and the case has been classified under Section 29 (1) of the Minor Offences Act and Section 108 (3) of the Road Transport Act 1987.Translated from Harian Metro ©
