KOTA KINABALU: Police have quizzed 18 people so far in their probe into the alleged rape of a national diver at the National Aquatics Centre in Bukit Jalil.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Fuzi Harun said they had also obtained closed circuit television footage for their investigation.
He said police were also enlisting the help of forensic, pathology and chemical specialists.
"Their input is needed before we submit a report to the Attorney-General's Chambers," he said here on Saturday, adding that no other athletes had come forward with similar allegations and only one arrest had been made so far.
He was among seven recipients of the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK), which carries the title "Datuk Seri Panglima".
The awards were in conjunction with Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin's 64th birthday celebrations.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the remand for suspect in the case, who is a swim coach, has been extended for another five days until Oct 11, according to Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa.
The 35-year-old Chinese national was detained on Oct 2 following a report by the victim and was remanded for five days.
