Businessman released on bail over probe into 'Tan Sri' title-buying attempt

PUTRAJAYA: A businessman who was remanded over an attempt to bribe the Sultan of Johor for honorific titles, was released on a RM50,000 Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail.
The 54-year-old man was released about 9.50am today when his eight-day remand expired.
The bail was allowed by Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab. Rahman.
Lawyer Datuk K. Kumaraendran who represented the businessman, said his client was released on bail with one surety pending completion of investigations.
The 'Tan Sri' was remanded for a total of eight days since March 31 to assist an investigation in connection with an attempt to bribe Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, for a title award.
On March 30, the businessman surrendered himself at the MACC headquarters here, following a warning by the commission to reveal his identity, if he failed to do so by midnight.
