Family overjoyed as missing paraglider found safe after 24 hours

KUALA KUBU BARU: It was sheer joy for the family of paraglider Mohamad Rosely Azli when he was found safe after going missing for about 24 hours.
Distraught family members were seen at the search and rescue operations centre and their anguish turned to joy when Mohamad Rosely was found at about 3pm yesterday.
His daughter Adibah Yasmin, 21, said she was thankful and happy that her father had been found safe and sound.
“We are thankful he is safe and is still conscious. That’s all that matters,”she said, praising the search and rescue operations team.
Mohamad Rosely was too weak to speak and was sent to the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital here for treatment.
Mohamad Rosely, 53, was found by the search and rescue team about 10km from where he was supposed to land.
He went missing on Sunday after failing to land at Stadium Millennium in Kuala Kubu Baru, 45 minutes after take-off.
Mohamad Rosely, who works for an automotive company, and six others took off from Bukit Batu Pahat on Sunday.
While the rest landed safely at around 2.45pm, he failed to land.
Mohamad Rosely was gliding at about 400m and it is believed that strong winds could have pushed Mohamad Rosely, who has about four years experience in paragliding, higher up from the rest before he went out of sight.
Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt R. Supramaniam said 50 personnel from police, the Fire and Rescue Department and the Armed Forces were involved in the search, aided by three helicopters.
He said a police helicopter rescued the paraglider in the forest area up north near Frasers Hill.
Mohamad Rosely suffered injuries to his legs
However, strong winds pushed him to above 1,200m.
Supt Supramaniam said before he went out of sight, the victim was communicating with the coordinator at the starting site, but the communication was later disrupted.
