No malicious intent behind FAM’s offer of the Harimau Malaysia’s assistant coach position for Kedah’s head coach, Tan Cheng Hoe.

No Sabotage Intended, New FAM President Says On Offer To Kedah's Head Coach

MALAYSIAN DIGEST
The President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has stated there is no malicious intent behind FAM’s offer of the Harimau Malaysia’s assistant coach position for Kedah’s head coach, Tan Cheng Hoe.
In a statement made in FAM’s official Facebook page, Tunku Ismail, who is also the owner of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) stated that the selection of Cheng Hoe was made solely by the national team head coach, Mario Gomez, without any interference from anyone else.

“Now, regarding issues brought up by several unofficial social media pages that enjoys provoking fans by playing up unsubstantiated news about Kedah head coach, Tan Cheng Hoe. For your information, after I appointed Mario Gomez as the national head coach, I have given him the freedom to pick whoever he wants to work with, with the condition that his assistant coach must be a local.

“With this, Mario himself said that he's keen on Tan Cheng Hoe as he regards Tan Cheng Hoe as the best among all the local coaches.

“Besides Tan Cheng Hoe, Mario has also picked JDT assistant coach Raul Longhi, goalkeeping coach Azmin Azran Abdul Aziz, a fitness coach from overseas (Italy or Argentina) and a national team coordinator from the AFC.
"With this, there isn't any ploy to bring down any team as claimed by these unofficial sites that have never met me at all. I hope the fans are able to see with their own eyes and realize who or which side enjoys to make a big deal out of things,” he said.

Many Kedah fans are now disgruntled and unhappy, after reports have surfaced that Cheng Hoe is ready to leave Kedah after a successful season last year, with the team winning the Malaysian Cup.

Reports from Arena Metro also said that Tan Cheng Hoe has sent his resignation letter to the Kedah Football Association (KFA) last Friday.
