IPOH: About 110 Mat Rempit were made to push their motorcycles over 5km to the district traffic police headquarters here.
They were earlier stopped at a roadblock at Taman SPPK, Pasir Puteh here at 1am yesterday.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong said the police conducted the roadblock to curb illegal motorcycle racing near the residential area.
“We seized 116 motorcycles and issued 252 summonses for various offences, including illegal modification to their vehicles, running the red light, dark helmet visor, failure to show the licence and expired licence,” he said after a high-profile policing programme at the Buntong Harmony flats.
The police, he said, also arrested a 23-year-old man for crashing his motorcycle into a police car during the operation.
The man would be investigated for reckless driving.
