OTTAWA: A Canadian couple won the lottery for the third time, bagging C$8.1mil (RM26.7mil) in February's Western Canada Lottery jackpot.
Barbara Fink checked the winning numbers online on the night of Feb 22 and watched in disbelief when her winning numbers flashed on the screen, Canadian news site CBC News said in a report on Tuesday.
She tried frantically to contact her husband Douglas, who was out of town.
"He didn't answer, so I waited five minutes and tried again," she said in a statement by the Western Canada Lottery Corp. "That time, he picked up. I said, 'I did it again!'"
Their winning ticket was one of two - another winner got half of the $16.3mil (RM72.3mil) jackpot.
The winnings were their largest so far - the Finks, from Edmonton city in Canada's Alberta province, had won twice before.
The pair won C$100,000 (RM330,133) in 2010 and Fink got C$128,000 (RM422,570) from lottery winnings with his friends in 1989.
The couple said they plan to spend their money on their daughters and grandchildren, before spoiling themselves with vacations and a new house. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
