PETALING JAYA: Actress Nora Danish (pic) has hit back at reports that she had suggested that artistes be given a tax break to maintain their attractiveness.

In a Facebook post Monday, the 34-year-old actress said she had been “scolded (kena marah)" and suggested that her messaged had been distorted.

“I will find out who tried to sensationalise the news,” said the model-turned entrepreneur.

Nora was responding to a recent report in a Malay daily that quoted her urging the Inland Revenue Board to consider her tax exemption proposal on grounds that celebrities today spend large sums to maintain their good looks in public.

“As a Malaysian citizen, I feel that it is our responsibility to pay our taxes. However, I do hope that there is a little exemption for celebrities like us," said Nora, who earlier said she had always paid her taxes on time.

“This (maintaining our looks) is part of our occupation and perhaps it can be counted under occupational cost,” she said.

Nora urged IRB to consider the proposal as “it would benefit artiste and other celebrities who are heavily reliant on appearances and personality” in public.

Nora, who owns a headscarf line called Owl, has been dating Nedim Nazri, the son of Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.
