Lorry driver arrested for allegedly insulting Kelantan Sultan on Facebook\

BACHOK: Police arrested a 49-year-old lorry driver in Johor on Saturday to assist in the investigation into a case of insulting the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, on Facebook.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Dr Ab Rahman Ismail said the man was picked up by a team from the Johor Police headquarters at 11.30pm and handed over to the Kelantan police.
The man is originally from Kerian, Perak.
"So far, seven police reports have been lodged over the case, including four in Bachok and one each in Kota Baru, Pasir Mas and Kuala Krai,” said Dr Ab Rahman.
He added that the suspect is being remanded until Wednesday to assist the investigation.
Dr Ab Rahman – who spoke to reporters after opening the Jelawat Police Beat Base here Monday – was commenting on a report of a man known as Rosli Johol who allegedly uploaded pictures and posted a status on his Facebook account insulting the Sultan of Kelantan
He said the arrested man had a criminal record under Section 295 of the Penal Code for defiling a place of worship in 1993, and added that the father of three is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act and could be charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Dr Ab Rahman also said that police would obtain a court order for a psychiatric examination of the suspect. - Bernama
