Boy run over after falling out of car

THESTAR
JOHOR BARU: A two-year-old boy was killed after he fell out of a car driven by his father and was run over by another vehicle along Jalan Lebuh Cemerlang here.

The incident happened when the door of the Kia Sorento car swung open while the 41-year-old father was making a U-turn along the road.
Jayden Goh Hao Zheng (pic), who was on the rear passenger seat without a seat belt, fell onto the road and was run over by a passing four-wheel drive at 8.20pm on Saturday.
It is learnt that the family of five was on their way to visit a relative in Plentong after dinner.
Others in the car were Hao Zheng’s 35-year-old mother and two sisters.
His uncle Wong Tian Tie, 33, said the family was devastated by the tragedy.
“My sister is inconsolable. She adored Hao Zheng as he was the only boy in the family.
“The girls are aged four and eight," said the quantity surveyor.
Wong described the boy as “a very cheerful child” and that he was also saddened by the incident.
“He had only started speaking a few words recently.
“I am close to him as I see him frequently during family gatherings,” he told reporters when met at the Nirvana Asia crematorium in Ulu Tiram yesterday.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Jokhiri Abd Azizi said the victim was rushed to the Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) but was pronounced dead due to severe head injuries while on the way there.
He added that investigations revealed the door to the car was locked at the time of the incident.
Supt Jokhiri said that the car the family was travelling in would be sent to Puspakom for inspection.
“Motorists are advised to check their vehicles before travelling and always ensure that small children are placed on child car seats,” he said.
