RTD officer run over by trailer at roadblock near Setia Alam
SHAH ALAM: A Road Transport Department (RTD) officer who was on roadblock duty was killed when a trailer crashed into him near Setia Alam toll plaza, today.
In the 1pm incident, the victim, Mohd Ridzuan Yusoff, 32, died on the spot due to severe head injuries after he was run over by the trailer.
Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat said the initial investigations revealed that Mohd Ridzuan had just completed his inspection on a lorry in front of the trailer.
"The 68-year-old driver of the trailer had stopped by the roadside to make a phone call.
"He then drove on without realising the RTD officer was in front of his vehicle." he said.
Mohd Ridzuan's remains has been sent to Shah Alam Hospital for post mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
