KUALA KANGSAR: Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz (pix) has described the Yellow Shirt Bersih supporters as "stupid" for not understanding the law.
The Tourism and Culture Minister said Bersih members, as well as bloggers and "keyboard warriors" who support them, keep asking why Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah was arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) even though she is not a terrorist.
"Please check your facts first. Who said she is a terrorist? A terrorist will be arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) and not Sosma," Nazri, who is Umno supreme council member, said Friday.
He said that Maria was arrested under Sosma so that police can carry out investigations into allegations that she may be involved in activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
"Therefore, the Yellow Shirts (Bersih supporters) are stupid because they don't understand the law," he told reporters when launching "Kraf Kampungku" pilot project in Kampung Kepala Bendang in Sayong here.
