Parliament rioters have until Friday 2pm to surrender
KUALA LUMPUR: The 10 men involved in the fracas in Parliament have until 2pm Friday to surrender to police.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said they knew who and where they are and it was important they surrendered as soon as possible.
"We have to protect the sanctity of Parliament," he said at a press conference after presenting ranks to several senior officers in Bukit Aman on Friday.
He added that the case was being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
"We will also investigate the Parliament's logbook entries," he said.
The IGP also issued a stern warning against flouting the law, including those causing trouble in Parliament and conducting candlelight vigils.
"In fact, I am tired of giving warnings. Action will be taken.
"Those who break the law must be prepared for the consequences," he said.
