SEREMBAN: A chance encounter by a Mini Cooper enthusiast with another Mini that had broken down on the North South Expressway ended in tragedy when a trailer plowed into the two cars.
Two men sustained injuries in the incident that occurred at Km 270 south-bound on the North South Expressway here, today.
One of the car passengers sustained serious injuries while the driver of the trailer escaped with minor injuries.
Zulkifli Abdul Razak, 43, one of the Mini Cooper’s drivers from Shah Alam, said he spotted a same model antique Mini Cooper which had broken down and stopped at the emergency lane to help.
“As I was having a chat with the driver, suddenly the trailer smashed into our cars.
Two Mini Coopers were plowed by a trailer while waiting for assistance on the emergency lane at Km 270 south-bound on the North South Expressway.
“Both of us managed to dodge, but the passenger in the broken Mini Cooper did not manage to escape. He sustained serious injuries due to the crash,” he said when met at the scene.
Zulkifli was grateful that he escaped unhurt although his car was damaged in the incident.
Meanwhile, Seremban 2 fire station operation chief Badrol Tamam Abdul Tahim said two machines with 10 firefighters rushed to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 1.59pm.
He said upon arrival, the car’s passenger had been pulled out by passers-by and sent to Tuanku Jaa’far Hospital by an ambulance that happened to pass by.
