'Cyber love' crimes on the increase
KUALA LUMPUR: Cyber love crimes involving women victims are increasing yearly.
Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Department, Multimedia and Cybercrimes Division, investigation officer ASP Mohd Syafiq Jinuin Abdullah said 1,646 such cases were reported involving losses of more that RM56mil last year.
"In 2014, 1,015 cases were reported with losses amounting to RM52mil," he said.
He said most of the victims were aged between 35 and 45 years, mostly rich single mothers.
The perpetrators were mostly Africans who snared their victims through Facebook, e-mail and Skype, he added. - Bernama
