SHAH ALAM: Paul William Nunis and his wife Mary Nunis née Mary Rodrigues were laid to rest in a tearful ceremony attended by hundreds of people at Church of Divine Mercy.
Theirs was the perfect love story and even in death, they could not be separated, said their eldest son, IT manager Glenn Nunis.
“They were inseparable lovebirds and went everywhere and did everything together.
“Even the rare times when Mummy travelled alone, Daddy would fall sick and Mummy would cut her trip short to come back and take care of him. Of course, we would all tease that Daddy was just faking it to get Mummy to manja him,” he said in a moving eulogy yesterday.
Glenn, 45, also said Paul would take the train to Penang every weekend from Kuala Lumpur to spend time with Mary when they first got married.
“I can only imagine the struggle they went through, being able to see each other only on weekends before Mummy got transferred to Kuala Lumpur,” he said.
Glenn said that his parents were opposites, yet madly in love even when they celebrated their 45th anniversary six months ago.
“He loved sports, she couldn’t care less. He loved to sing and was the life of the party while she was more quiet and would never touch the mic.
Glenn said the couple, both 71, also loved helping others and were selfless, offering their help to anyone who needed it.
“That is why there are so many of you here and we are overwhelmed and touched by all the support you have shown to us,” he said.
