PETALING JAYA: A 45-second video of a topless man performing stretches in the middle of a Malaysian highway has gone viral over the past few days.
When contacted, PLUS Malaysia Berhad confirmed that the incident took place at approximately 11.30am on October 4.
"The PLUS Traffic Monitoring Centre received a call from a highway user notifying the centre about a man lying on his back in the middle of the highway at KM268.2 (northbound) on the North-South Expressway near the Bandar Ainsdale Interchange, Seremban,” said PLUS.
PLUS added that a PLUSRonda team was immediately dispatched to the location, but the man was believed to have left the scene before the PLUSRonda team arrived.
The video, which was posted on a community Facebook page on Tuesday has been viewed close to 800,000 times with over 6,000 shares.
It shows a topless man lying on his back on a highway with his feet and hands lifted in the air.
The unidentified man then proceeds to perform leg lifts and other stretches, while cars are seen slowing down to avoid him.
A silver sedan believed to belong to the man was seen parked in the opposite direction beside him.
Both the man and his stationary car were blocking two lanes of the four-lane highway.
Facebook user Norzuliana Binti Zakaria commented on the video, claiming that she was there when the incident happened.
"This event happened in front of my very eyes, his car was going really fast on the KL-Seremban Highway," she said.
Norzuliana added that after the man cut her off, he lost control of his car and nearly hit the divider.
“His car spun, and after that he came out of his car and immediately slept on the road. He had no shirt and his body had bruises from cupping,” she added.
Norzuliana added that after five minutes the man got up and left.
"To say that he is crazy, I don't know. And after we overtook his car, he was casually smoking with his car hazard lights on," said Norzuliana.
Many netizens also wondered what prompted the man to lie on the road, with several people also commenting on how lucky the man was to not have been run over or injured.
