A man armed with a meat cleaver has been arrested by police after barricading himself in a Melbourne restaurant, threatening staff and throwing glass from the second storey window.
Officers were called to Little Ipoh Malaysian restaurant on the corner of Latrobe and Queen Street at 12.50pm on Tuesday after the man smashed two windows with the weapon.
According to Nine News, the man yelled out for 'his mum, his missus and his people,' from the window after injuring his hand from the broken glass.

The shirtless man was seen sitting on the ledge of the second level window and throwing objects, including mandarin or orange peel and glass, at police.
'Police received a call in relation to a man that was armed with a meat cleaver and that resulted in our attendance to the premises today,' a police spokesperson said. Share
Police said that the restaurant was open for business at the time, but staff members were the only ones present inside when the man entered.
'The scene was evacuated quickly and the man was contained within the premises,' the spokesperson said. 'There was no risk to any members of the public whilst police engaged with that male and our aim was to resolve the issue peacefully which we did so today.'
The origin of the knife is currently under investigation and the man had no known connections to the Malaysian restaurant.
The man sustained minor injuries as a result of the smashed glass in the restaurant.
