PETALING JAYA: Four robbers, wearing face masks and armed with machetes, thought they were on to some easy pickings when they barged into a house in Taman Mastiara Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, today.
In the 2.45pm incident, the 49-year-old housewife was attacked by one of the robbers who forced her to hand over her belongings.
Sentul police chief ACP R. Munusamy said the victim became frantic when the robber whipped out a knife and quickly handed over all the cash she had with her.
However, after she handed over the cash, the remaining three suspects went upstairs and threatened her husband and their two sons.
"The victim found one suspect hitting her sons with a machete and one of the machetes fell to the floor.
"In an immediate reaction, the victim's husband picked up the machete and attacked the robbers," said Munusamy.
He said the suspects then fled the house empty handed in a white Toyota Estima with registration number WB9443.
"The victim's husband and children suffered injuries on their heads and hands," he added.
Police checks revealed the vehicle may have been stolen as the registration number was fake.
