Game of Thrones is a popular American fantasy drama television series created for HBO, which has accumulated legions of fans worldwide.
The plot revolves around the battle of various kingdoms for the 'ultimate' throne to become the supreme ruler of the land. And this quest is replete with back stabbing and betrayals.
And now, the brother of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has warned that Malaysia should not descend into a similar state.
As always, Nazir, the chairperson of CIMB, put forth his views in a simple Instagram posting, which included an image of the popular series.
"Through this political turmoil, we must preserve and protect the integrity of our institutions or we descend into a game of thrones," he wrote.
Nazir's posting comes in the wake of political upheavals in the nation which witnessed his brother reshuffling the Cabinet and axing his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.
Muhyiddin was dropped some 48 hours after he delivered a hard-hitting speech on the 1MDB crisis during the Cheras Umno annual meet.
Prior to the reshuffle, the nation was greeted with the shocking news that Abdul Gani Patail's term as attorney-general had expired due to health problems.
Abdul Gani himself was caught by surprise, but refused to comment on speculation that his removal was linked to the 1MDB task force.
Veteran newsman A Kadir Jasin also wondered if Abdul Gani landed on the chopping block because he was about to charge people soon in connection with the probe.
