Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur launched their Lai Po Heen’s Mooncake Promotion on 18th July 2015 by opening a counter at the hotel lobby. The mooncake is a traditional festival pastry served during the Mid-Autumn Festival falling on 27th September this year, customarily eaten with family and friends in the light of the full moon on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month on the Chinese calendar. The customary practice of giving and exchanging mooncakes during the festival has also evolved into the serious business of corporate and personal gifting, where not only the best flavour but also the best packaging is taken into account.

For their mooncake promotion this year, Lai Po Heen’s experienced culinary team led by Executive Chinese Chef Ricky Thein and Head Dim Sum Chef Hong are featuring the all-new flavour of the year, the Creamy Milk Tea Paste large mooncake alongside customer favourites such as Pandan and Single Egg Yolk and Mini Snow Skin with Durian Paste, as well as other delicious creations such as the Mini Snow Skin with Blue-Pea Flowers in Pumpkin Paste.

Chef Frank Braun and the Pastry Team are also introducing their own new mooncake-shaped chocolates, including the deluxe Palette D’or with Salted Caramel, and the winsome Coconut with Kaya and Ivory Filling.
