Ramadan Buka Puasa Buffet At the Lemon Garden, Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur 2015 - 5 Stars



When walking into the lobby of the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur you can always get the feeling something special is awaiting for you. The beautiful lobby creates a great ambiance and  confirms that you have arrived in a true 5 star establishment.
For this holy month of Ramadan, the hotel has a Gamelan troupe that plays soothing traditional tunes to welcome guest of the hotel. The musicians donned matching costumes as the decor making them one of the best looking troupes.

The Ramadan Buka Puasa Buffet at Lemon Garden Cafe this features a wider variety of Malay dishes compared to last year. In addition to that they also had Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Italian andMiddle Eastern influenced cuisine  with a barbecue by the terrace.

 They have really outdone themselves this year with one one of the best buka puasa fares in town. Presentation of the food was awesome and made guest really hungry. I promised my other reviewers  that i was not going to eat much, but I failed miserably in keeping that promise when my eyes feasted on what was laid out. 


The most sought after section of  any buka puasa buffets is the Roast Lamb section and it was no different here, judging from the crowds that lined up here at this section for the lamb with briyani rice, Many could be seen going for seconds and thirds. The lamb was full of flavour and tasty. That night 6 Full lambs were brought out and served.


Guest  get to enjoy a wide variety of Malay salads, ulam and traditional kampong dishes like Bubor Lambuk, Rendang , Daging Masak Lemak, Apam Balik, Kari Kepala Ikan, Lemang & Rendang. Satay,  Pajeri Nenas, Ayam Masak Kuzi, Gulai Ikan,and Lala

In keeping the Malaysian Tradition of showcasing cuisines from other races in Malaysia Shangri-La had a wide variety of Chinese and Indian Dishes. At the Chinese counter the Dim Sum, Steamed Fish,  Ginger Chicken, Butter Prawn, Roasted Chicken and many other dishes






















They had a separate section for Noodle Soup with two different kinds of broth.

At the Indian Section you can find tandoori chicken, lamb satay, briyani, fish & chicken curries, quite a number of vegetarian dishes and naan bread.




There was  a barbeque by the terrace with delights such as Iranian tikka mastih (marinated beef cubes with yoghurt) and shish taouk (boneless chicken cubes) 




For those who like a taste of Middle Eastern Cuisine they had a shawarma section with pita bread and all.




Another section that was the star of the night was the Japanese section with Salmon and Tuna Sashimi, Octopus, juicy Oysters,and various types of Sushi, This section was busy all night as The fare was very fresh and choices plentifull.













The had quite a number of Western dishes. Here the Beef Stew was simply awesome. Most of the western fare was really good and well prepared. They had lamb, chicken, oysters, mussels, fish and prawn dishes prepared in various ways.















The Italian section was very popular with the diners as well as guest feasted on the freshly made pasta and pizza. The restaurant had a great selection of pasta that guest could choose from.

Desserts at the Shangri-La must be simply one of the best in town with the wide variety of cakes and pastires that are available, The mousse and cakes were very tasty. The traditional pastries were delicious. The durian ice cream was a big hit, as it had little bits of durian flesh in it. They had white and dark chocolates prepared in various ways to quench your chocolate cravings. At the barbeque section a variety of Malaysian seasonal friuits were laid out. 

  











At every station you will find at least a couple of chefs to assist you and make sure that the food is always topped up and never runs out. Top marks to the Shangri- La  Hotel Kuala Lumpur Ramadan Buka Puasa for Taste and Presentation. Shangri-La is ond mofd hotel that made us feel, that when it comes to food,  Malaysia is Truly Asia!
