During the Holy month of Ramadan period if you are craving for Malaysian comfort food then head on down to Vasco's at Kuala Lumpur Hilton. The all day dining Buffet Restaurant has been transformed to replicate a Kampung style ambiance with traditional Ramadan bazaar stalls at the Malay food section. You can find quite a few Malay inspired traditional dishes here together with other Asian Cuisines that they are famous for.
A Ghazal group belting out some melodius tradiotional Malay music greet guest as thet walk into this restaurant. The evening we did the review there were easily more than 300 guest there. It really added to the atmosphere. The Chef's did a good job refilling the food trays and making sure there was continuous supply of food. Despite the huge crow the place didn't look like a hurricane had hit the restaurant as each section was well look after by the team at Vasco's
The most popular section of the night must have been the seafood section, The hotel gets top marks for layout and presentation of the Crabs, Oysters, Prawns, Mussels. As the oysters were opened and brought out, it disappeared as it was layed out. The fare was fresh and tasty.
The Salmon and Tuna sashimi melted in your mouth. The Baby octopus was yummy too. I guess since the hotel is Japanese owned they had to make this their signature counter. If you are a fan of Japanese cuisine more than others, than this is the place to be at.
The Malay section was of course the star of the night with some great tasting Soup Ekor or Tulang. All the reviewers gave a big thumbs up for this. The thick broth was a great opener for our meal
The Lamb nasi beriyani is a must try, as it had nice flavour to it.
The Satay section was another crowd favourite, as the chicken satay was so succulent and almost had no fat, The beef satay was also very good. They were all the same size and well prepared unlike some other restaurants where some would be burnt black!. The reviewers enjoyed the satay
The Indian section was also populare with diners, Ii found one of the best lamb curries in town at this section. They had some great tasting Chicken. Prawn, and Fish disher cooked in various indian styles. The butter chicken was certainly the crowd favourite. The even some vegetarian dishes.
The section with the the Middle East inspired dishes was another popular section as diners lined up for the Shawarma and different breads.

The live cooking stations were no doubt kept busy throughout the night as diners had some great tasting Chinese inspired cuisine such as Yong Tau Foo
They had an Italian Section with Pizza and Pasta for thos who wanted a little bit of variety, the pizza was really good and pasta well prepared.
The desert section was a rainbow of colours with a mix of traditional and modern pastries and cakes. They had a fridge housing all the mousse and jelly you could want. They had a wide variety of chocolates and even had ice cream potong!
The drink section offered quite a good variety of cold drinks and all were very well prepared. Throughout the night it taste good and was not watered down by the melting ice. The Nescafe and teh tarik were also very well prepared.
The Vasco's Management Team have done an excellent job to make sure that only freshest and great tasting fare is served to diners and each section is well taken care of so that all the dishes are refilled on time when empty, this adds to the dining experience of all the guest. So a big thumbs up for Executive Chef Warren Brown, Sous Chef Kazi Hassan and his team. Meanwhile you can see Restaurant Manager Teo Koon Cho , his assistant Annuar and Assistant F&B Director Nazly Ibrahim all over the restaurant making sure guest are well taken care of.
