KUALA LUMPUR:A memorial service will be held at Bunga Raya Complex, KL International Airport, at 10am on July 11, to remember those who were on board Flight MH17 which was shot down in Ukraine.
The event was to mark the one-year anniversary of the tragedy, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
Some 1,000 attendees are expected to be at the event.
They include next-of-kin of the victims, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, ministers, ambassadors of affected nations, MAS management and crew as well as religious leaders of various faiths.
“I call for all Malaysians to join us in prayer as we remember the victims who died in this devastating tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers have and will always be with the families and loved ones of those on board MH17.
“We are very concerned. We want to know who is the perpetrator responsible for the downing of the plane,” Liow told the media after officiating a building for Special Education Integration Programme at SJK (C) Sam Yoke here yesterday.
Liow said they were still waiting for the report on the tragedy and hoped it would be completed soon.
“I was told that the final report is being prepared and an announcement will be made when we receive it,” he added.
The MH17 flight from Amsterdam-KL crashed after being shot at on July 17 last year, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew on board.
