PETALING JAYA: The photographs of Malaysian comedian Harith Iskander and his son have been taken down from a pornographic website, one day after it was highlighted to the public.
The website, which is based in the United States, was brought to Harith's attention when he received a notification on his name being used on the website from Google Alerts on Wednesday.
The text on the website was in Malay and English, and had the caption "Gambar Anak Harith Iskander" (Photo of Harith Iskander's child).
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had earlier Thursday requested the webmaster to remove the pictures.
Its Strategic Communication director Sheikh Raffie Abd Rahman said that there was however no guarantee that the webmaster would comply with the request.
“If you find any picture of yourself on any such website, you should contact the webmaster yourself. They are more likely to understand that the rights of the picture belongs to you,” he told the Star Online.
MCMC also requested the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block the website.
Raffie warned netizens to be careful with what they post as whatever is in a public domain such as Facebook could be used by anyone.
A picture of Malaysian actress Erra Fazira's daughter Engku Aleesya was also found on the website.
There were almost 200 non-pornographic pictures of children on the website earlier before the case was highlighted.
Checks on the website revealed that all pictures of children have since been removed.
