PETALING JAYA: The Johor Crown Prince has continued to speak out on the current state of affairs, this time lamenting the lack of integrity among today’s leaders.
In a posting on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page on Sunday night, Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim (pic) said leaders in every sector of Government, NGOs, and organisations in Johor should inspire people and not manipulate them.
“Do not try to manage and manipulate people. Inventories can be managed, but people must be lead by example and with integrity.
“It seems that things I say usually ruffle more than a few feathers, so I say in the context of Johor, which is close to my heart,” Tunku Ismail said.
In the posting, titled ‘The True Meaning of Leadership’, he also reminded the current crop of leaders that their key to success was influence, not authority.
“If you have authority but command no influence, it is a sign that you are not worthy of being a leader,” he said.
The Johor Crown Prince said his late grandfather, Sultan Iskandar Ibni Sultan Ismail, had taught him that great leaders find the courage to fulfil their vision from passion, not position.
“He also said that a cowardly leader is the most dangerous of men, and that one of the tests of leadership is the ability to recognise a problem before it becomes an emergency,” Tunku Ismail said.
He added that he is blessed to have been raised by two great leaders, his grandfather and his father ultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.
Tunku Ismail has been outspoken on the political situation in the country, recently engaging in a war of words with Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, who had told the prince to stay out of politics or get “whacked”.
The Johor prince responded by saying that Nazri was “not a God from the heavens who lord above everybody”.
