We visited the Kencana Lounge at Four Star Corus Hotel Kuaa Lumpur (the former legendary Ming Court Hotel) last Sunday night after a very long hiatus and surprisingly we had a really good time. We walked in about 11pm.... the place was half full but we were thoroughly entertained by their very energetic resident band - Music Notes. We went back there early on Tuesday night to really check out the Lounge. We arrived there at 8.45pm as that's when the band starts and before we knew it, it was 1am. Seriously we had such a relaxing evening after a stressful day at work that time flew by.
The band plays a wide repertoire of English and Malay songs from top 70’s to 80’s oldies, evergreens, ballads, retros, to latest r&b, pop and the list goes on.. The three pretty Filipino singers did some very energetic dance moves on the dance floor.
MUSIC NOTES
One of the singers Dhonna has a really husky voice and does great rock numbers. She performed one of Malaysian Rock Singer Ella songs to perfection. Many of the custimers that are regular to the lounge usually get on the dance floor to do the poco - poco and other dance routines when their favourite songs are played.
The Kencana Lounge may not be a 5 Star hotel lounge but it is cosy enough to give you a very nice relaxing ambiance with comfortable seats. Its warm setting is enhanced by the basic white ceramic lamps and marble columns and heightened by the natural lights from an overhead glass sky dome.
They have a good happy hour promotion,
You can get 1 for 1 on beers and wine. A pint of Carlsbery works out to be RM18++ during happy hours whereas the normal price is RM36+. A glass of wine on 1 for 1 promotion goes for RM32++
However i would not recommend to buy any bottles of liquor here as the pricing is quite ridiculous for a lounge. I recommend you stick to the wine and beers if you come here. The house pouring wine is from Chile so u cant go wrong, it's great for easy drinking.
For those who don't consume alcohol They have a good selection of coffee's, teas and non-alcoholic drinks. A delicious Mango Lassi promotion is on going now for RM 22++
They have great tasting bar snacks, we tried the chicken wings, calamari and chicken quasadella's and they were damn good.
The Lounge Manager Mr Sunny Ng who has been with the hotel for a long time is friendly and very attentive. You can see he makes a real effort to make the guest feel comfortable .
The Result: Good Food , Good Drinks and A Very Entertaining Band!
Verdict: Highly Recommended!
