It has been dubbed as the “Fight Of The Century”, and everyone – even non-boxing fans – seems to be getting in on the excitement. We’re talking about the Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao, of course, which is taking place this Sunday morning.
HBO Asia (Astro Ch 411/ HD 431), the channel that brings us gems like Game Of Thrones and Veep, has acquired the exclusive rights to broadcast the match live.
And, it’s FREE.
The channel made the announcement earlier today, also stating that the match will be screened online too via the Astro On The Go app.
“We are excited to be the only channel in Malaysia to broadcast live the ‘Fight Of The Century’ between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather,” said Jonathan Spink, CEO of HBO Asia. “This highly anticipated match can be enjoyed by all subscribers of HBO in Malaysia at no additional charge.”
The match between the first and only eight-division world champion Pacquiao of the Philippines and the five-division world champion Mayweather, from the US, is set to take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday at 11am (Malaysia time).
The big fight will be preceded by other matches: Gamalier Rodriguez Vs Vasyl Lomachenko at 9am and Leo Santa Cruz Vs Jose Cayetano at 10am.
If you miss the live match between Mayweather and Pacquiao, you can still watch it on HBO on the same day at 8.30pm or on May 5 at 9pm. Meanwhile, all the fights will be available on Astro On The Go until May 16.
The Fight Of The Century has been getting a lot of attention since the match date was announced in March.
Top celebrities like Mark Wahlberg and Puff Daddy (or P. Diddy or Sean Combs, whichever name he goes by these days) have even placed massive bets amounting to US$250,000 (RM875,000), with Wahlberg backing Pacquiao and Puffy siding with Mayweather.
