KUALA LUMPUR: Gombak MP Azmin Ali (pic) has been ejected from the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday after he refused to accept an explanation from Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia and persistently questioned his decision.
Azmin had asked why his motion to debate the three Court of Appeal judges who sentenced Opposition Leader to five year's jail for sodomy was placed at the end of the order paper.
Pandikar said the standing order in the Dewan stated that the Government's affairs must take precedence before other matters.
After Azmin repeatedly refused to back down despite Pandikar asking him to sit down, the Speaker ejected him out.
Speaking to reporters outside, Azmin said he was disappointed with the Speakers decision and the Opposition will continue to press on with the motion, which was supported by 63 MPs.
Minutes after Azmin was ejected, Sepang MP Mohamed Hanipa Maidin was also booted out by Pandikar after he tried to speak and refused to stop when the Speaker told him to put matters to rest.
